Saran, Saharsa boys move into semis

Patna, November 9, 2009: Saran and Saharsa booked their berths in the semi-finals of the Bihar State CK Nayudu inter-district under-19 school cricket tournament here on Monday.


Saran thrashed East Champaran by five wickets in the quarter-final at the Moinul Haq Stadium. Batting first, East Champaran made 121 runs off 25 overs. Manish (22), Fazal (38) and Amit (13) shone with the bat. Gazal, Sanjeev Kumar, Rohit Yadav and Manvendar all took two wickets each.

In reply, Saran raced to the target off 22.1 overs for losing five wickets on the way. Kumar Gaurav top scored with 25 runs. Manvendar remained unbeaten on 19 runs. Faisal Gani claimed two wickets for nine runs.

At Patna College ground, Saharsa beat Kaimur by 24 runs. Saharsa won the toss and elected to bat first. Saharsa gathered 168 for seven wickets off 25 overs. Akash slammed a half-century (51). Rajesh scored magnificent 49 runs. Ved Vikas captured two wickets.


In reply, Kaimur could manage to score 144 runs for nine wickets off 25 overs. Shahid made 48 runs.
