Patna, November 14, 2009: Tushar Kanti of Patna won the cadet boys’ single crown of the Prof BDP Rai memorial 58th Bihar state and inter-district tablet tennis championships beating Aditya Umang (Patna) 7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 5-11 and 11-9 in the final at the Bihar Young Men’s Institute here on Saturday.
Top seed Ahna Pal (Darbhanga), Suprna Joshi (Patna), Rinki Ghosh (Patna), Payal Kumari (Madhepura) Priya Kumari (Patna), Dipali Sarkar (Patna), Chumaki Mandal (Patna) and Palmi Raha (Darbhanga) booked their berths in women singles quarterfinals winning their respective matches.
In team event, Patna ‘A’ continued their forward march winning all league matches in their pool ‘B’. By virtue of the all-win record, Patna “A” entered the semi-final. Madhubani, who claimed the second place in pool ‘B’ also qualified for semi-finals.
Patna and Darbhanga collected 16 points each after the end of their league matches in the women’s team event.
