Saran clinch CK Nayudu Trophy

Patna, November 12, 2009: Saran won the Bihar state CK Nayudu inter-district under-19 school cricket tournament trophy trouncing Nalanda by six wickets at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Thursday.

Batting first, Nalanda made 119 for nine wickets off 30 overs. Manish Raj (38) and Saurav (22 contributed well with the bat. Rohit and Gazal Mohammad claimed two wickets each for 19 and 17 runs respectively. Manvendar and Rahman both bagged one wicket each.

In reply, Saran raced to the target off 22.5 overs losing four wickets. Vinay (47), Vishal (15) and Sagr Iqbal (16 not out) were notable run-makers. Saurav and Gofran both took two wickets each for 21 and 14 runs respectively.

Vinay of Saran, who scored 47 runs, was declared man of the match.

Bihar's Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Renu Devi distributed the prizes. Manoje Nath, Director General, Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA) was the special guest at the prize-distribution function. Vivek Kumar Singh, secretary, Art, Culture and Youth Affairs presided over the function.

Saran: 120 for four wickets in 22.5 overs (Vinay-47, Vishal-15, Manvendar-16 not out, Saurav-2/21, Gofran-2/14).
