Baldev Sanskrit High School, Army School, Danapur enter quarterfinals

Patna, October 31, 2009:
Baldev Sanskrit High School, Masaurhi and Army School, Danapur earned quarterfinal berths in the Rock inter-school football tournament in contrasting styles at the outer ground of the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Saturday.

Baldev Sanskrit High School, Masaurhi got the better of Ideal Public School, Patna 6-5 via tie-breaker after playing a hard-fought game while Army School got walk-over against AN Singh Inter High School, Ekma (Saran).

The second match of the day turned out to be an anti-climax as the tournament committee did not allow the Saran team to play for fielding over-age players.

Masaurhi boys shot into the lead very early in the match as Sahil Kumar placed the ball in after Ideal Public School goalkeeper Amit Kumar fumbled the ball. S Ali equalized the lead in the 7th minute to make it 1-1 for Ideal boys. Both the teams played cohesive soccer but failed to hit the target. The first half of the match ended 1-1.

The second half also witnessed some well planned moves from both the sides but scoreline remained the same. The highlight was Sahil missing an open sitter in the 46th minute.

In shootouts, Zakir, Roshan Raj, Ashutosh Raj, Roshan and Manu Kumar hit the target for Baldev Sanskrit High School, Masaurhi while S Hembrum, Avinash, Durga Murmu and Aditya shot home for Ideal Public School.
