Rahul wins a grand double in school TT


Patna, November 11, 2009: Rahul Kumar of Patna Central School (PCS) won the junior boys singles and doubles titles to make it a grand double in the Inter-School table tennis championships at Secretariat Club hall here on Wednesday.

In junior boys’ singles final, Rahul outplayed his teammate Ankit Kumar 12-10, 14-12, 11-9, 13-11 to win the crown while in the junior boys’ doubles final Rahul pairing with Ankit Kumar drubbed Gagan Neer and Amit Kumar 11-6, 15-13, 9-11, 12-10.

Varsha Bhagyashree too earned a grand double claiming the junior girls’ singles title defeating Simmi Ghosh 11-8, 11-9, 11-8. PCS boy Ankit clinched the sub-junior boys’ singles title defeating Amit Kumar of Holy Mission School 11-4, 12-14, 11-6, 11-5.

Bihar Government’s Art, Culture and Youth Affairs secretary Vivek Kumar Singh gave away the prizes. Umnag Sinha (Don Bosco Academy) and Serin (St Karen’s School) were decalred promising players of the tournament. Seema Kumari of LVZ School was declared best coach. Bihar Government’s PRD secretary Rajesh Bhushan proposed a vote of thanks.
