Junior Army XI, Lucknow, stormed into the final of first Unity Cup All-India football tournament trouncing GTC, Shillong 4-1 in the first semifinal at Jalkaoura (Khagaria) on Thursday.
Junior Army boys dominated the entire match from the very start and never allowed their rivals to have some breathing space. Shillong men did not play their best and resorted to rough play throughout the match. They were upset over a referee’s penalty kick decision in the 10th minute of the first half against their side.
Deepak Shreshta of Army XI played a total and heart out football. He engineered several moves by and fed his forwards well. Abhishek Gurung capitalized the moment much as he scored three goals. CB Thapa netted in the other goal for Army XI.
