Sardar Patel Sports and Cultural Foundation did all possible it could to make the opening of the 7th Inter-School athletic championships at the outer ground of the Moinul Haq Stadium a grand function here on Friday. Students drawn from various schools of Patna presented attractive march past, gala cultural shows and won applauds from spectators.
Rural Works Department minister Brishen Patel declared the meet open. Former Bihar minister and present MLA Shyam Rajak, general secretary of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD, Bihar) Dr Nihora Prasad Yadav and Director Indian Institute of Health Education Anil Sulabh graced the opening ceremony. Former MLC and president of the Sardar Patel Sports and Cultural Foundation Upendra Kumar Singh welcomed the guests while federation’s general secretary KC Mahajan proposed a vote of thanks.
Suranjana of Notre Dame Academy and Sonal of St Karen's High School took joint oath on behalf of the participants. St Karen's High School clinched the best march past trophy for the second year in a row.
In the on-field action Rakesh Kumar of St Karen's High School and Khushbu Kumari of Notre Dame Academy hogged the limelight on the first day of the meet. Rakesh won the gold medal in mini boys 600m race while Khushbu cornered glory over the same distance in mini girls’ section.

Girls’ (600 m): Kushbu Kumari (first), Soumya (second), Suman Kumari (third).
