Bihar State inter-district volleyball: Bhagalpur face Begusarai for women's crown

Bhagalpur set up summit showdown with Begusarai for the women’s crown of the Bihar State inter-district volleyball championships at Ami in Dighwara on Saturday.

Bhagalpur had an easy outing against Banka as the former carved out straight three-set win 25-7, 25-6, 25-10 to enter final while Begusarai sweated it out in a marathon five-setter to tame the stubborn challenge from Sherpur 23-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-7, 15-9 in the semi-finals.

Sherpur girls got off to a flying start claiming the first sets with their brilliant all-round performance. But in the third set which was a deciding set for them, they failed to hold their nerves and made a mess of it. Begusari girls took the opportunity and bounced back in the match with 25-18 in the third set.

After that there was no looking back for Begusarai spikers as they pocketed the rest two sets with great élan and comfort 25-7, 15-9 to enter the final. Khushbu of Begusarai played heart-out to won laud applauds from capacity crowd.

Bihar kho-kho team announced

Bihar State Sports Authority on Saturday named state teams for School Games Federation of India (SGFI) kho-kho championships.

Teams
Boys: Ajit Kumar, Anil Kumar, Aslam Ali, Harshraj, Alok Kumar, Sonu, Shankar Saurav, Chandan Kumar, Vedanand Ved, Arvinda Kumar, Dhanu Kumar and Abhishek Kumar. Coach: C Ashok Kumar Priydarshi.

Girls: Alisa Sinha, Priyanka Kumari, Geeta Kumari, Priyanka II, Sonali, Rakhi Kumari, Jyoti Kumari, Chhoti Kumari, Rekha Kumari, Juli Kumari, Puja Kumari, and Preeti Kumari. Coach: Ashok Kumar.
