Bhagalpur notched up an easy seven-wicket win over Aurangabad while Samastipur chalked out an exciting one-wicket victory over Muzaffarpur in the quarter-final league match of the Bihar Cricket Association Twenty20 tournament at Rajendra Stadium in Chapra on Monday.
Batting first in the first match, Aurangabad managed to score 124 runs off 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Asif Hussain (38), Ranjan Kumar Pandey (28 not out) and Varun Kumar (19) chipped in some useful runs for their side. Rahul Ramuka destroyed the Aurangabad innings claiming five wickets for 21 runs.
In reply, Bhagalpur had not faced noteworthy resistance while chasing the target. Ashutosh Kumar played a belligerent knock of 37 runs off 22 balls while Sandeep Mishra (31 not out) and Vikas (31) came good with the bat. Bhagalpur raced to the target off only 12 overs. Prakash took two wickets for Aurangabad. Ashutosh Kumar of Bhagalpur got the man of the match award.
In the second match, Muzaffarpur scored 142 runs for 8 off 20 overs. Dinesh Kumar struck a magnificent half-century (58) and Chetan made 24 runs. Prabhat took two wickets for Samastipur.
In reply, Samastipur registered the victory in a nail-biting finish on the last ball. Brajesh Kumar was the hero as he hit a power-packed half-century (55) runs. Rakesh Kumar (23) and Sanjeev (20) were the other distinguished contributors. Ajit Sharma and Saurav bagged four and three wickets each for Muzaffarpur. Samastipur’s Brajesh Kumar won the man of the match award.
