Patna, December 3
Shakil Alam won the Strongman of Patna title in the Bihar powerlifting championship at Ranjit Memorial Club hall here on Tuesday. Vikas Kumar got the Junior Strongman of Bihar crown.
Ritika Kashyap, Sonali Kumari and Sarita Kumari bagged the first, second and third positions respectively in the Patna district powerlifting championship.
Alok Raj clinched the strongman of Bihar title in bench-pressed event. Santosh Mehta, deputy mayor, Nand Kishore Prasad and Ramesh Kushwaha jointly gave away the prizes.
Bihar wrestling team announced
A 14-member Bihar team will take part in the senior National wrestling championship to be held at Gonad in Uttar Pradesh from December 4.

Darbhanga outplay Samastipur in kabaddi
Kabaddi and kho-kho events of Bihar State Rural Sports meet began in the Nehru stadium, Laheriasarai in Darbhanga on Tuesday. Darbhanga thrashed Samastipur (70-13), Jehanabad drubbed West Champaran (51-14) and Begusarai overcame Arwal (57-23) in their matches of the boys’ kabaddi event.
In girls’ kabaddi, Buxar struggled to beat Rohtas 67-52. Darbhanga humiliated Sheohar (70-05) while Begusarai got a walk-over against Arwal.
In boys' kho-kho, Muzaffarpur and Gaya earned two points each winning their respective matches. Buxar prevailed over Rohtas by 8 points in girls’ kho-kho match.
