SJFI donates Rs 51,000 for flood-hit Bihar

Patna, December 12
The Sports Journalists' Federation of India (SJFI) on Friday donated Rs 51,000 to Bihar government to help flood-hit people of the state. Bihar had witnessed a devastating flood in September when river Kosi changed its course sweeping away the embankments. About 40-lakh people in five districts of the state had affected by the worst-ever flood.

Expressing sympathy for the flood affected people in Araria, Purnia, Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura districts due to the breach of river Kosi in Nepal, the SJFI hoped that the money would help in relief and restoration work in the affected areas.

On behalf of the SJFI, Sports Journalists Association of Bihar (SJAB) secretary Pradeep Modak handed over the bank draft to state Art, Culture and Youth Affairs department secretary Vivek Kumar Singh, here to be deposited in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said the state government was serious to restore sports activities in the flood-affected areas.
Senior SJAB members Abhijeet Biswas, Nawin Chndra Manoj, Arun Singh, Manoj Kumar Sinha, photographers association president AP Dubey, sports organsier Neeraj Kumar Pappu and senior athletic coach Abhishek Kumar were present at the function.
