Hosts AG Bihar came out with flying colours winning the IA and AD East Zone volleyball championships title at the Mahalekhakar Bhawan courts here on Wednesday,
In an engrossing final Bihar outplayed AG, West Bengal 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22 in a three-set thriller.
Bihar began the first set in a whirlwind fashion and completed the task easily at 25-14. Shambhu Kuamr Singh, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Ajay Kumar Rai and Rakesh Nandan executed perfect team planning and combination to outsmart their rivals.
In the second set, Bengal men proved to be tough customer as they fought hard on every point. But Bihar despite having some hiccups in the middle stage of the match, won the set at 25-20.
The decider too witnessed ding-dong battle as Bengal's Rana Banerjee and Abhijeet Dutta dished out superb game in attack as well as in defence. The Bengal fight back, however, did not last long as Bihar won the decider 25-22 to win the crown.
Chief Accountant General, Bihar, Arun Kumar Singh gave away the prizes.
