Sports Hostel clinch SIS Cricket Cup

Patna, December 22
The final of SIS Cup Randhir Verma memorial inter-school cricket tournament turned out to be an anti-climax as Sports Hostel did not face any worthwhile resistance beating Alliance Cricket Club by seven wickets at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Sunday.

Batting first Alliance boys could muster 75 runs off 22.2 overs. They looked hapless against tight bowling and fielding of Sports Hostel boys. Vivek (24) and Rupak (14) were the two batsmen to reach the double figures. Animesh and Dharmesh claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Sports Hostel boys reached the target losing three wickets off 9.5 overs. Shashim Rathore played a brilliant knock of 46 runs to set up the tone for victory. Later, he was declared man of the match.

Former Art, Culture and Youth Affairs minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal (the chief guest of the function), Nitin Navin, MLA and Anil Sulabh gave away the prizes.

Earlier, chief patron of the Randhir Verma Foundation, Ravindra Kishore Sinha inaugurated the final match.

The organising committee declared Shashim Rathore of Sports Hostel as man of the series, Shahzad of Zig-Zag Club as best batsman, Sajid Faridi of Zig-Zag Club as best bowler, Ritesh of ISHED as best wicketkeeper, Sumit of Alliance as best fielder and Sonu Kumar of ISHED as best promising player of the tournament.
