Sukhdeo cricket: St Karen's School boys advance

Patna, November 17
St Karen's High School recorded a dazzling eight-wicket victory over Leeds Asian School in a second round match of the 24th All India Sukhdeo Narain memorial inter-school cricket tournament at the DAV Public School, BSEB Colony ground here on Sunday.

Kabir Sanyal of St Karen's, who claimed four wickets for seven runs, was declared man of the match.

Batting first Leeds Asian School scored not so challenging 121 runs in 28.4 overs. Ganesh Gautam slammed a delightful half-century (51) with eight boundaries. Anurag took two wickets for 20 runs.

Needing 122 runs for victory in 30 overs, St Karen's boys overcame the target in 18 overs losing two wickets. Akash hammered a blazing half-century (58) with five boundaries and three mighty heaves over the fence.

Brief scores: Leeds Asian School: 121 all out in 28.4 overs (Ganesh Gautam-51, Dinesh Kumar-15, Sunny Singh-17, Kabir Sanyal-4/7, Anurag-2/20). St Karen's High School: 125 for two wickets in 18 overs (Akash-58, Tushar-24, Rajnish Gaurav-20 not out, Kabir Sanyal-14 not out, Anitesh-1/10, Kislay Sharma-1/28).

Lucent School post six-wicket victory
Lucent Senior Secondary School crush Gurukul Tutorial by six wickets in the Super 30 Challenge Cup inter-school cricket tournament at the Patna College ground on Sunday.

Grurkul boys made 147 all out in 19.1 overs. In reply, Lucent School reached the target in 19.1 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Patna district TT begins

Amit Kumar outplayed Avinash Kumar Bhashkar 11-9, 11-3, 11-3 in the cadet boys’ singles of the Patna district table tennis championship at the Bihar Young men's Institute (BYMI) here on Sunday.

Earlier, Krishna Mohan Sinha, vice-president, Bihar Table Tennis Association (BTTA) inaugurated the meet. Dilip Kumar Gandhi, secretary, Patna District Table Tennis Association (PDTTA), Prem Kumar, vice-president, BTTA, former state table tennis champion, Amitabh Sinha and former international player Sanjeev Shankar graced the inaugural function.

Results: Cadet boys’ singles (first round): Amit Kumar beat Avinash Kumar Bhashkar 11-9, 11-3, 11-3; Shubham Koda beat Avinash Topo 11-7, 11-7, 11-7; Ishant Nirmal beat Ayush Kumar Adarsh 11-6, 11-9, 11-5 and Deepak Kumar beat Nabaid Hasan 11-5, 11-6, 5-11, 11-4.


Md Ayaz wins badminton title
Md Ayaz won the singles title (18 to 40 years age group) of the BS Thapa memorial badminton tournament, organized by Union Bank Staff Recreation and Welfare Club at Post and Telegraph Recreation Club courts on Sunday.

Ayaz beat Rohan Kumar Singh in the final. In the 40to 50 years age group section, Satyendra Prasad took the title defeating AK Verma. Above 50 years crown went in favour of SK Bhargava while PN Musatafi got the second spot.
