Dev Priya captures tennis crown

Patna, October 31
Dev Priya Jaiswal of Bihar tamed state-mate Adamya Vikrant in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 to win the boys U-18 singles title of the All India Tennis Association Talent Series at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Friday.

Dev Priya, who had a stupendous run in the tournament, virtually toyed with his opponent and gave no breathing space to show a semblance of fight.

In the boys' under-18 doubles final, Dev Priya Jaiswal and Ishan Priyadarshi (both from Bihar) struggled hard to beat Amarendra Singh Choudhary (UP) and Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to complete his grand double.

Ramjee Upadhaya in Indian kabaddi team

Ramjee Upadhaya of Bihar Police has been selected to represent India in a forthcoming kabaddi tournament to be held in China, according to Bihar State Kabaddi Association secretary Kumar Vijay.

Bihar boxing team

Parvati Kumari of Katihar would lead the seven members Bihar team in the ninth senior National women boxing championship to be held in Agra from November 2, said Rajeev Kumar Singh, secretary, Bihar Boxing Association.

Team: Parvati Kumari (captain), Rani Kumari, Seema Kumari, Sunita Yadav, Reena Singh, Amita Kumari and Sonu Kumari. Manager: Ranbir Kumar Amar. Coach: GK Mandal.

Patna division U-19 team

A 13-member Patna division team would take part in the inter-division CK Nayudu (under-19) school cricket tournament to be held in Kishanganj from November 14, said Arun Kumar Singh, deputy director, physical education, Patna division.

Team: Munchun, Aman Krishna, Rakesh Tiwari, Md Firoz, Kundan, Saurav Anand, Satbir Singh, Abhishek Kumar, Amiyakar and Saurav Chakarborty (all from Patna), Ezajul Haque and Shahbaz Alam (both from Buxar) and Sanjit Kumar Mishra (Bhojpur).
Reserves: Prince Kumar and Rahul Raj (both from Rohtas) and Nitish Kumar (Kaimur).

26 states confirm participation

Twentysix states have confirmed their participation in the 22nd sub-junior and mini National badminton championship starting from November 10 at the Secretariat badminton hall here, according to KN Jaiswal, secretary, Bihar Badminton Association.
