Civil Services carrom: Geeta, Rajyalakshmi in final

It was an all Central Secretariat, Delhi affair in the women’s singles final in the All India Civil Services carrom championships at the Secretariat Badminton Hall here as Geeta Shankar set up summit showdown with her teammate Rajyalakshmi here on Tuesday.

Geeta Shankar thrashed K Venkatraman of Delhi 25-0, 25-0 in the first semi-final while Rajyalakshmi had a little bit trouble to prevail over Rinki of RSB, Kanpur 25-9, 25-7 in the other semi-final of the day.

Earlier, the Delhi pair of Geeta Shankar and Rajyalakshmi annexed the women doubles crown defeating Rinki and Kavita of RSB, Kanpur 25-5, 25-7.
Shashidharan and Raja of RSB, Chennai claimed the men's doubles title beating Rajesh and Sunil of RSB, Indore 11-25, 25-9 and 25-8.

Md Nasir (Central Secretariat, Delhi), Anil Kumar and Dinesh Babu (both from RSB, Hyderabad) and Jitendra Kale (RSB, Mumbai) moved into the men's singles semi-finals.

Till date the tournament witnessed two Black and five White Slams scored by the participants. RD Dinesh Babu and Md Nasir pocketed Black Slams while RD Dinesh Babu, Sandeep Bhatnagar, Shashidharan, Blessington and Shenbar Long netted the White Slams.

Men's singles (quarter-finals): Md Nasir beat MV Prasad 25-3, 25-6; Anil Kumar beat E Dohling 25-0, 25-0; RD Dinesh Babu beat Subhash Sharma 25-19, 25-24; Jitendra Kale beat Khurshid Hasan 25-18, 2-25 and 25-8.
