Lekh Raj crowned a double claiming the men and junior boys’ singles titles of the Patna district table tennis championships, at the Bihar Young Men's Institute here on Wednesday.
Lekh played a simply superb game in both the finals. In men's singles, Lekh overcame a stiff challenge from arch rival Kishan Raj in a six-game battle 6-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8, 9-11 and 11-8. In the junior boys’ final, Lekh tamed Ankit Tarve 11-6, 11-9, 11-6 and 11-9. Anmol won the sub-junior boys’ singles title defeating Ankit Kumar in a four-game fight 8-11, 11-6, 11-8 and 14-12.
Sangeeta Singh, principal, Arya Kanya Vidyalaya, who was the chief guest at closing function, gave away the prizes. Mukesh Roy, secretary, Bihar Table Tennis Association welcomed the guests.
Earlier on Tuesday, Amit Kumar annexed the cadet boys’ singles crown defeating Saurav Kumar 11-9, 12-10, 11-7 while Ritesh Pandey, Lekh Raj, Raj Kumar Singh and Kishan Raj entered the men's singles semi-finals.
In the junior boys’ singles, Ankit Tarve, Vivek Nishad, Lekh Raj and Rahul Prakash booked their berths in the semi-finals. Anmol, Abhishek Kmar, Ankit Kumar and Rahul Prakash moved into the semi-finals of the sub-junior boys singles.
Results: Men's singles (quarter-finals): Ritesh Pandey beat A Raj 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6, 12-10; Lekh Raj beat Samir Chakarborty 5-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-2, 11-8; Kishan Raj bt Nishant Chandra 11-8, 11-9, 11-8; Raj Kumar Singh bt Zunaidur Rahman 8-11, 11-9,8-11, 12-10, 11-9 and 11-4.
Junior boys' singles (quarter-finals): Ankit Tarve bt Ankit Kumar 5-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7; Zunaidur Rahman bt Vivek Nishad 11-9, 11-9, 5-11and 11-8.
