Official cricket in Patna began on Sunday with the inauguration of junior division league organized by Patna District Cricket Association, an affiliate body of the Bihar Cricket Association that recently got a status of associate membership from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
In the opening match, Moonlight Cricket Club notched up an exciting 14-run victory over Youngsters Cricket Club (YCC), Rajendra Nagar at the Patna Science College ground.
Batting first after winning the toss, Moonlight stumbled out for 83 runs off 32.1 overs. In reply, YCC could muster 69 runs in 22 overs.
Earlier, Prof Deepak Kumar Sharma, Principal, Patna Science College inaugurated the Patna cricket league. Nearly all PDCA office-bearers including Amarnath Singh (president), Ajay Narain Sharma (secretary). Alok Raj (vice-president), Ajiteshwar Prasad Jittu (former secretary), Vijay Narain Chunnu, Arun Kumar, Ram Kumar, Jai Narain Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Jairam Prasad, Sunil Singh and Premballabh Sahay were present at the opening function.
Brief scores: Moonlight Cricket Club: 83 all out in 32.1 overs (Ravishankar-15, Alok-11, Akshay-2/17 and Anmol-2/6). YCC, Rajendra Nagar: 69 all out in 22 overs (Pawan-24, Abhinav Srivastava-3/3, Dharamveer-2/9 and Ravish Kumar-2/16).
