Sukhdeo cricket: Gorakhpur boys in quarter-finals

Harshit Gupta took the DAV Public School (BSEB Colony) ground by storm with his power-packed knock of 86 runs as Devine Public School, Gorakhpur entered the quarter-finals of the 24th All-India Sukhdeo Narain memorial inter-school cricket tournament in a whirl-wind fashion thrashing Adarsh Bharati Academy by a huge margin of 119 runs here on Saturday.

Harshit knock contained 10 boundaries and one mighty six. Later, he was declared man of the match.

Adarsh Bharti Academy skipper, Rajeev Raushan won the toss and asked Gorakhpur boys to bat first. The DAV School pitch, which showed some assistance to the bowlers in previous matches, played true for batsmen, who knew how to score runs in the early morning conditions.

Eventually, Gorakhpur boys piled up 205 for eight wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Shivam Srivastava 45 (4x4, 1x6) and Pankaj Upadhaya 34 (2x4) were the other two notable batsmen. Ravindra Kumar took three wickets.

In reply, Adarsh Bharti could mange to score only 86 runs off 23.4 overs. Amit Dubey wreaked havoc on rival batting line up capturing four wickets for 21 runs.
