National Sub-Junior and Mini Badminton: Bihar's Subham, Gulshan enter third round

Bihar’s Gulshan Kumar and Subham stormed into the mini boys’ singles third round of the 22nd National sub-junior and mini badminton championships at the Secretariat Badminton Hall here on Wednesday.

The official Day One of the tournament brought some cheers for the hosts as Subham outplayed Raunak 21-14, 21-17 while Gulshan Kumar edged out Gaurav Kumar 21-13, 21-16.

The Bihar girls, however, fared badly in the mini event as four of them suffered first round unceremonious exit. Purva, Gloria Anisha Anthony, Surabhi and Bahmala Hembrum lost their first round encounters.

Earlier, the tournament witnessed its official opening with a colourful function marked by march-past of participating teams. Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chowdhary inaugurated the meet.
