AITA talent series: Grand triple for Shruti Jaiswal

Bihar’s tennis whiz-kid Shruit Jaiswal clinched a triple crown in the Al India Tennis Association (AITA) talent series tournament at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Saturday.

Shruti won the girls’ under-18 singles title defeating Vidya (Karnataka) in a three-set thriller 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 while in the under-16 singles, she again prevailed over her U-18 rivals 6-1, 6-3. Later, partnering with Vidya, she won the girls under-18 doubles title too.

The day, however, proved to be a good day for Bihar as Patna lad Ishan Priydarshi claimed a grand triple by winning under-16 boys singles title and under-18 and under-16 boys’ doubles titles.

Ishan won a hard-fought fight against Aditya Vishwakarma (UP) in the boys under-16 singles final 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. The most coveted boys’ under-18 crown, however, won by Siddharth Vishwakarma (UP) who outplayed Adamya Vikrant of Bihar 6-3, 7-5.

In the boys’ under-16 doubles final, Ishan Priyadarshi and Adamya Vikrant beat the UP pair of Samaresh Singh and Amritanjay Kumar 6-3, 6-4 to capture the title.

Boys U-18 (singles): Siddhartha Vishwakarma (UP) beat Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) 6-3, 7-5.
Boys U-16 (singles): Ishan Priyadarshi (Bihar) beat Aditya Kr Vishwakarma (UP) 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Boys U-18 (doubles): Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) and Ishan Priyadarshi (Bihar) beat Sukh Simran Pal Singh Handal (Punjab) and Samresh Singh (UP) 6-2, 6-4.

Boys U-16 (doubles): Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) and Ishan Priyadarshi (Bihar) beat Samresh Singh (UP) Amritanjay Kumar (UP) 6-3, 6-4.
Girls U-18 (singles): Shruti Jaiswal (Bihar) beat Vidya Bharath (Karnataka) 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Girls U-16 (singles): Shruti Jaiswal (Bihar) beat Vidya Bharath (Karnataka) 6-1, 6-3
Girls U-18 (doubles): Shruti Jaiswal (Bihar) and Vidya Bharath (Karnataka) beat Shripriya Saraf (Bihar) and Taniya Hasan (Bihar) 6-3, 6-1.
