Don Bosco Academy move into 3rd round

Patna, November 9, 2008

Don Bosco Academy stormed into the third round of the All-India Sukhdeo Narain memorial inter-school cricket tournament defeating Ashwani Public School by four wickets at the DAV Board Colony School ground here on Saturday.

Batting first Ashwani Public School made a modest 150 for the loss of six wickets off 30 overs. In reply, Don Bosco boys reached the target in 25.3 overs losing six wickets on the way.

Siddhant Vijay of Ashwani Public School, who stroked in fluent 70 runs with nine hits to the fence, was declared man of the match.

Brief Scores: Ashwani Public School: 150 for 6 off 30 overs (Siddhant Vijay 70, Anmol Kumar 23, Vijay Kumar 16, Piyush 3 for 20, Gaurav 1 for 26, Abhishek 2 for 24).
Don Bosco Academy: 154 for 6 off 25.3 overs (Sachin 16, Abhishek 33, Ankur 14, Amitabh 30, Rupesh 31, Rajkishan 3 for 28, Siddhant 2 for 32).

Ara RPS School win


RPS School, Ara and local Lucent School won their respected matches in the Super 30 Inter-School cricket tournament at the Patna College ground here on Saturday.

In the first match, RPS School (Ara) thrashed Mother Teresa School by 99 runs while Lucent School beat Residential School, Vikramganj by 36 runs in the next match.

Brief Scores: RP School: 177 for 6 (Varun 53, Abhishek 34, Dhananjay 27, Ravi 13,Vipin 2 for 39, Vishal 2 for 23). Mother Teresa School: 78 (Vipin 24, Manohar 14, Dhananjay 3 for 24, Manjay 2 for 16).
Lucent School: 164 for 4 (Deepak 16, Vijay 72, Ratan 16, Prabhat 2 for 16).
Residential School: 128 (Ratnesh 19, Fahad 36, Vinay 22, Deepak 2 for 24, Vijay 2 for 16).

Bihar sub-junior volleyball from November 19

Bihar State sub-junior volleyball championships scheduled to be held at Banka from November 15, now will be held from November 19, according to Bihar Volleyball Association secretary Ramashish Prasad Singh.

Bassketball player dies

Former national basketball player Jitendra Kumar died in a private nursing home in Patna on Saturday. He was seriously hurt in a road accident at Gandhi Setu while returning from Hajipur. He was an employee of Senior Superintendent Police Office (Patna).

Several sports lovers and sports organizers expressed their griefs over the sudden demise of Jitendra.

Civil services carrom from November 21

The All India civil services carrom championships will held at the Secretariat Indoor Hall from November 21, according to Ashok Kumar Mishra, convener, Bihar Secretariat Sports Club.
He said that team championships (men and women), men and women singles and doubles events would be organized during the meet. All state secretariats of the country and teams from Regional Sports Board would be taking part in the six-day meet, he added.

Kaimur to host State wrestling

The 54th Bihar State wrestling championship would be held at Kaimur from November 15, said Kameshwar Singh, general secretary, Bihar State Wrestling Association. The Bihar team will be selected during the meet for the National wrestling championship to be held at Gonda (Uttar Pradesh) from December 4.
