Sukhdeo cricket: Dony Polo boys march ahead

After three days of low scoring matches, the Saturday’s third round match of the 24th All-India Sukhdeo Narain inter-school cricket tournament witnessed a relatively high-scoring match at the DAV Public School (Board Colony) ground here. Dony Polo Public School emerged as the winners beating Prakritik Residential School by two wickets. With this win, Dony Polo boys moved into the pre-quarter-final stage of the tournament.

Nishant of Dony Polo, who scored 67 runs with the seven boundaries, was declared man of the match.

Asked to bat first, Prakritik School boys made a challenging 169 for three wickets off 30 overs. Mangal played a decent unbeaten innings of 71runs with four hits to the fence. Vivek and Kislay took one wicket each.

reply, Dony Polo School struck the required runs losing eight wickets off 29.3 overs. Nihant played a sheet anchor knock of 67 runs for the winners. Otherwise, Dony Polo School batsmen were in tremendous pressure against Prakritik School bowling. Nitish (20) and Manish (29) were the other noteworthy contributors. Sunny and Mangal grabbed two wickets each for 28 and 24 runs respectively.

Brief scores:Prakritik RS: 169 for eight wickets in 30 overs (Chhotu-26, Mangal-71 not out, Chandrakant-43, Kislay-1/36, Vivek-1/22). Dony Polo PS: 170 for eight wickets in 29.3 overs (Kislay-19, Manish-29, Nishant-67, Nitish-20, Deepak-10, Sunny-2/28, Mangal-2/24).
