Rajesh Kumar Sinha won the Patna district senior chess title with five points at the end of final round play at the Patna College Common Room here on Thursday.
There were three-way tie among Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Nand Kishore and Ajit Kumar Singh for the top position. At the end of the final round play all three had collected five points each. Rajesh Kumar Sinha was declared winner with best progressive point (19.5). Nand Kishore got the second position with 18 progressive points while Ajit Kumar Singh had to be satisfied with the third spot with 17.5 progressive points.
Former president of the All Bihar Chess Association PN Sharma, who was the chief guest at the closing function, gave away the prizes. Patna College principal, RB Prasad Singh, All Bihar Chess Association (ABCA) secretary Arvind Kumar Sinha, DK Singh, Vinayak Prasad were among the other dignitaries present at the prize-distribution function.
Patna District Chess Association secretary, Rakesh Ranjan welcomed the guests while tournament convener Ajay Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
According to chief arbiter Sudhir Kumar Mishra other ranked holders are;
4. Krshna Prasad (4.5); 5. Rishi Shankar (4.5); 6. Sanjeev Kumar (4.5); 7. Shristi Gautam (4.5); 8. Siddhant Gautam (4); 9. Devendra Kumar Singh (4) and 10. Rupesh Ranjan (4).
Special awards: Oldest player: PN Prasad (3, Date of Birth 1934), youngest player: Akhouri Sakshi (2, date of birth 2004).
