AITA talent series: Devpriya moves into quarters

Devpriya Jaiswal led the four Bihar players into the quarter-finals of the boys’ under-18 singles in the All India Tennis association (AITA) talent series tournament at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Tuesday.


Devpriya, who a few days ago won the first tournament of this series, proved too strong for Bheeshmak Srivastava of Uttar Pradesh 6-0, 6-0 in a pre-quarter-final encounter. Other Bihar players made the grade were Ishank Ravi, Venkat Siddath and Adamya Vikrant. Keshav Kishan of Maharashtra also entered the quarter-finals defeating Armaan Banaerjee of Karnataka 6-2, 6-2.

Boys’ under-18 singles (pre-quarter-finals)
Keshav Kishan Kisha (Maharashtra) beat Armaan Banerjee (Karnataka) 6-2, 6-2; Devepriya Jaiswal (Bihar) beat Bheeshmak Srivastava (UP) 6-0, 6-0; Ishank Ravi (Bihar) beat Vaibhav Kumar (Bihar) 7-5, 7-6 (7); Venkat Siddharth (Bihar) beat Saurabh Kumar Singh (UP) 6-2, 6-1 and Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) beat Adarsh Prakhar (Bihar) 6-1, 6-0.

Boys’ under-16 singles (pre-quarter-finals)
Ritwik Bhriguvanshi (Bihar) beat Abhilash Nair (UP) 6-2, 6-1 and Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) beat Ayush Agarwal (MP) 6-1, 6-0.
