Raj Kumar wins Bihar rapid chess title


Patna, May 28, 2009
Raj Kumar Chauhan of BSLN won the Bihar State senior rapid chess title with better progressive score here on Thursday. YP Srivastava got the second position while PK Singh bagged the third place at the end of seventh and final round play.

At the end of sixth round Raj Kumar Chauhan and YP Srivastava were tied with 5.5 points each. In the final round, Raj Kumar faced YP Srivastava. After some lightening chess, both the players agreed for a draw and shared the points. The final round saw PK Singh also collected six points defeating Krshna Prasad. The winners were decided on progressive scores and Raj Kumar won the crown.

Dr Rajiv Prasad, associate professor, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, who was the chief guest at the closing function, gave away the prizes. Manisha Trisvedi of LIC of India, who was the guest honour, also distributed the prizes. Dilip Kumar Bhagat welcomed the guests while Arvinda Kumar Sinha, secretary, All Bihar Chess Association proposed a vote of thanks.
