Patna Central School paddlers reign supreme

Patna Central School (PCS) players proved their superiority in the BY Yadav memorial table tennis championships winning all the tiles save one at the Bihar Young Men’s Institute here on Sunday.

Ankit Kumar of Patna Central School (PCS) won a grand double clinching the sub-junior boys’ and junior boys’ singles titles with commendable ease. He first beat Piyush D Gandhi (DPS) 11-8, 11-8, 11-7 for sub-junior title and then outsmarted Nishant Chandra of his own school PCS 7-11,9-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-7 for the boys’ singles crown.


Gauresh Nishad of Radiant International School claimed the cadet boys’ singles title beating Gagan Neer of Loyola High School 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 in the final.
In an all- PCS final, Patna Central School ‘B’ won the team championship title beating their ‘A’ team 3-1 in the final.


Kripa Shankar, superintending engineer, NCFL (Singrauli) distributed the prizes. Mukesh Roy, secretary, Bihar Table Tennis Association (BTTA) welcomed the guests. Tarun Kumar, convenor of thetournament proposed a vote of thanks. Banarsi Prasad, Amitabh Sinha, Sanjeev Shankar and Mahadeo Prasad Yadav and all officials of the BTTA graced the function.
