Bihar U-11 chess: Tanuja takes sole lead

Tanuja Bharti surged into the lead with three points at the end of as many rounds of play in the girls’ section of the Bihar State under-11 chess championships at Patna Youth Hostel here on Friday.
In the boys’ group, Siddhant Gautam and Kumar Gaurav were leading the table with three points each.

At the end of second round, Tanuja Bharti and Shruti Priya were at the top jointly with two points. Tanuja beat Shruti in the third round to take the lead.

In the boys’ group third round play, Kumar Gaurav and Amrit Verma played an engrossing match on the top board. Playing with black Kumar Gaurav outwitted Amrit Verma. On the board two, playing with black, Siddanth Gautam too notched up a facile win over Ashwani Arya.

Girls’ (after third round): Tanuja Bharti (3) beat Shurti Priya (2); Akanksha (2) beat Janhavi (1); Minakshi Kumari (2) beat Akhauri Sakshi (1) and Akshita Kumari (1) beat Aditi (0).

Boys’ (after third round):
