Finally, Adamya Vikrant tasted the sweetness of title victory. The Patna lad has been playing well in the All India Tennis Association (AITA) talent series tournaments for the last one month. In the fourth tournament of this series, he clinched the boys’ under-16 singles title defeating Aditya Kumar Vishwakarma of Uttar Pradesh 6-3, 6-4 in the final at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Saturday.
Ever agile, Shurti Jaiswal of Bihar claimed the girls’ under-18 singles crown beating her statemate Sripriya Saaraf 6-4, 6-1 in the final. Sripriya fought well in the first set matching stroke by stroke against her much fancied rival. But in the second Shruti just toyed with Sripriya.
Arman Banerjee of Karnataka and Marcos Gomes of Delhi got the under-16 boys’ doubles title defeating the Uttar Pradesh pair of Aditya Vishwakarma and Amaritanjay Kumar 6-4, 6-1.
In the boys’ under-18 singles final, Devpriya Jaiswal (Bihar) will face Adamya Vikrant (Bihar). Earlier, in the semi-finals, Devpriya defeated struggled to down Arpit Sharma (Rajasthan) 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 while Adamya outplayed Venkat Siddharth (Bihar) 6-3, 6-3.
Bihar-Delhi combination of Shruti Jaiswal and Manuela Gomes won the girls’ under-18 doubles crown.
