Bihar State U-11 chess begins

Bihar State under-11 chess championships got off to a colourful start at Patna Youth Hostel here on Thursday. In the first round matches, all the seeded players in boys’ and girls’ sections won their respective matches convincingly.

Earllier, Anil Sulabh, director, Indian Institute of Health Education and Research inaugurated the three-day tournament by playing a board with FIDE rated players Siddanth Gautam (1673). The tournament is being organised by Patna Chess Club.

Patna Chess Club secretary Sanjeev Kumar welcomed the guests while All Bihar Chess Association secretary Arvinda Kumar Sinha proposed a vote of thanks. Former national player Shivchandra Jha, Patna District Chess Association secretary Rakesh Ranjan and chief arbiter Dilip Kumar Bhagat were among other present at the opening function.

Girls: Janhavi (1) beat Aditi (0), Minakshi Kumari (1) beat Akansha (0), Shrutipriya (1) beat Akshita Kumari (0), Tanuja Bharti (1) beat Akhauri Harshit (0).
Boys:



Siddanth Gautam (1) beat Manas (0), Amrit Verma (1) beat Prayush Parth (0), Ashwani Arya (1) beat Randhir Kumar Singh (0), Rishi Rishav (1) beat Ayush (0), Jitendra Kumar (1) beat Shivam Kumar (0), Kumar Vishesh (1) beat Utkarsh Sinha (0), Kumar Sambhav (1) beat Yashshvi (0), Saurav Anand (1) beat Gaurav Anand (0), Kumar Mumtaz (1) beat Ashutosh Ranjan (0).
