Shilpi Jaiswal advances to semifinal

Patna, January 12, 2011: Shilpi Jaiswal of Bihar cruised into the women’s singles semifinals of the Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad memorial All-India ranking tennis tournament at the Patliputra Colony tennis courts here on Wednesday.

Results: Women’s singles (quarterfinals): Dipti Shrivastava (WB) bt Kopmal Ghotra (Punjab) 6-0, 6-0; Mohana Sarkar (WB) bt Richa Sirohi (UP) 6-3, 6-1 and Shilpi Jaiswal (Bihar) bt Fatima Packar (Bihar) 6-0, 6-0.

Men’s singles (pre-quarter-finals): Manoj Sewa (WB) bt Krishna Karsolia (UP) 7-6, 4-6, 7-6; Kamlesh Shukla (UP) bt Devendra Yadav (UP) 6-3, 6-4; Aman Kumar (Bihar) bt Amarjyuti Deka (Assam) 6-3, 7-6; Robin Das (WB) bt Anand Kumar (UP) 6-0, 6-0; Bibaswan Deb (WB) bt Mahendra Singh Rathore (Rajasthan) 6-3, 6-1 and Chandrashekha Mohanty (Assam) bt Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) 6-0, 6-1.
