Devpriya faces Manoj in final


Patna, January 14, 2011: Bihar’s Devpriya Jaiswal moved into the men’s singles final of the Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad memorial all-India ranking prize-money tennis tournament at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Friday.

Devpriya beat Chandrahekhar Mohanty of Assam 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinal to set up final clash with Manoj Sewa of West Bengal who beat Saneesh Mani Mishra (UP) 6-0, 6-0.

In the women’s singles final Shruti Jaiswal of Bihar will take on Dipti Shrivastava of West Bengal. In the semifinal, Shruti prevailed over her elder sister Shilpi 6-4, 6-2 while Dipti took three sets to down Mohana Sarkar of West Bengal 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Results: Manoj Sewa (WB) bt Saneesh Mani Mishra (UP) 6-0, 6-0; Devpriya Jaiswal (Bihar) bt Chandrahekhar Mohanty 6-4, 6-2.

Men’s doubles semifinals: Manoj Sewa [and Robin Das bt Saneesh Mani Mishra and Aditya Narayan 6-2, 6-2; Krishna Karsolia and Kamlesh Shukla bt Chandrashekhar Mohanty and Devpriya Jaiswal 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Women singles semifinal: Shruti Jaiswal bt Shilpi Jaiswal 6-4, 6-2; Dipti Shrivastav bt Mohana Sarkar 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Women doubles semifinal: Dipti Shrivastava and Mohana Sarkar bt Komal Ghotra and Richa Sirohi 6-2, 6-1; Shilpi Jaiswal and Shruti Jaiswal bt Bobby Yadav and Rashi Wahal 6-1, 6-2.
