Bihar's Deepika, Kajal move into Jr National carrom quarterfinals

Dehradun, January 1, 2010: Defending champions Deepika Sinha of Bihar trounced Kabita Devi of Maniput in straight sets 21-0, 21-0 to move into the girls singles quarterfinals of the Junior National and Inter-State carrom championships at Agarwal Dharmashala here.

In the other pre-quarterfinal matches, Tuba of Chandigarh beat N Abhiram of Tamil Nadu 21-6, 13-6 and Archana of Bihar defeated Kabya Shree (Jharkhand) 20-1, 21-0. M Knagdhara of Tamil Nadu had a sensational fight against MSK Harika of Andhra as the former defeated Harika at 9-14, 19-12, 21-15. Farheen of Chandigarh defeated N. Rajya laxmi of Andhra Pradesh 18-11, 21-6, P Jayashree of Tamil Nadu defeated Bibha Kumari of Bihar 21-2, 11-10, R Vinita of Tamil Nadu had three-set fight against Manu Gupta of Chandigarh 21-5, 0-21, 21-0 and Kajal Kumari of Bihar defeated Nini Jha of Jharkhand 21-0, 21-0.

In boys’ singles, defending champions K Srinivas of Hyderabad defeated Mohd. Kashif of Uttar Pradesh 16-15, 21-15 to enter the quarterfinals.
