Patna Central School sports meet begins






Patna, January 27, 2011: Two-day annual sports meet of the Patna Central School (PCS) began at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Thursday. Students drawn from different classes showcased their talents in cultural events of the opening function and later on the track and filed events.

On the opening day Navneet Kumar and Ashaka won the 100m sprint gold medals in the boys' and girls' sections respectively. Navneet won the race in 13.42 seconds. Kamalesh (14.32 sec) and Abhimanyu (14.64 sec) got the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Ashaka claimed the 100m gold medals in girls section, clocking 14.46 seconds. Smriti (15.36 seconds) and Kanchan (16.46 seconds) bagged the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Earlier, Bihar Government’s Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra inaugurated the two-day meet. Students of different classes presented attractive march past. Acharya Sudarshan Jee Maharaj and SB Prasad were the special guests. Bihar Players Association president Mritunjay Tiwari and Patna Central School Principal SP Singh were present on the occasion.

Acharya Sudarshan Sports and Cultural Foundation secretary Niraj Kumar Pappu welcomed the guests. Sailesh Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.

Important results: Boys group E (shot put) Yashwant (I), Rahul Kumar (II), Karn Kumar (III). 200-m: Abhishek Prabhakar (1), Durgesh Prasad (II), Avinash Chandra (III).

Boys group D 200-m: Afroz Alam (I), Nitish Kumar (II), Rohit Raj (III).

Boys group F 200-m: Navneet (I), Abhimanyu (II) and Maruti Nandan (III).

Girls group E: 200-m Karishma Ranjan (I), Puja Kumari (II), Priya Kumari (III).

Shot put: Shruti Shukla (I), Shruti Raj (II), Ritika Patel (III).
