Mahroor, Vijay script Bihar's impressive win over Arunachal Pradesh in BCCI U-19 tournament

Patna, January 15, 2011: Mangal Mahroor hit a swashbuckling 139 and Siddhant Vijay stroked in an equally impressive 112 as Bihar scripted a huge 313 runs win over Arunachal Pradesh in a league match of the BCCI Associated Members U-19 tournament in Bhillai on Saturday.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bihar piled up massive 424 runs for the loss of five wickets off 50 overs. Openers Mangal Mahroor and Siddhant Vijay put on a record 214 runs for the first wicket. Mangal’s knock contained 12 fours and eight sixes and it came off 90 balls. Siddhant Vijay innings was studded with 10 boundaries and one six. He played 110 balls to collect his runs.

After the departure of the two openers, Kumar Rajnish clobbered Arunachal attack as the dashing batsman scored 78 runs off 49 balls with seven boundaries and one six. Imran Nazir made 26 runs off 18 balls with three hits to the fence.

In reply, Arunachal Pradesh managed to score 111 runs off 29.2 overs. Akhilesh Saini (48, 45 balls, 6x4, 1x6) and Ashok Kumar (38, 74 balls, 7x4) showed some glimpses of resistance in an otherwise dismal show by Arunachal batsmen.

Rigth arm medium pace bowler Abhijeet Saket, who made his debut in this match, claimed three wickets for 32 runs. Bihar skipper and spinner Satish Roy bagged two wickets for 10 runs while Nishant Prakash got two wickets for 20 runs.

It was Bihar’s third victory in the tournament. Bihar earned bonus point for this win.
