Bihar go down to Chhattisgarh in BCCI Associated Members U-19 tournament

Patna, January 11, 2011: Bihar boys once again failed to break the jinx against Chhattisgarh. This time in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Associated Members U-19 tournament in Raipur, Bihar lost to Chhattisgarh by 24 runs in the opening league match on Tuesday.

Earlier, in BCCI Associtated Members U-16 and U-22 tournaments Bihar lost to Chhattisgarh in the finals.

According to information reached here, Chhattisgarh made 265 for nine wickets off 50 overs. Opener Sheikh Wasin scored a brilliant 95 runs. His knock was studded with eight boundaries. Other opener Jai Chhetri (60, 10x4) provided Chhattisgarh a positive start adding 79 runs for the first wicket. Atul Sharma scored 26 runs. Rajesh Singh and Kamlesh Singh took two wickets each for 49 and 50 runs respectively. Nishant Prakash and Kumar Rajnish got one wicket each.

Chasing 266 runs to win, Bihar crashed out for 241 runs off 49.4 overs. Bihar had a dismal start losing four quick wickets in first two overs of the innings. Mangal Mahroor (45, 6x4), Kumar Aditya (42, 5x4), Nishant Prakash (40, 3x4) and Kamlesh Singh (34 not out, 4x4) gave Bihar some respectability at the end.

For Chhattisgarh, Vishal and Akhand Pratap Singh claimed three and two wickets each.
