Devpriya Jaiswal and Chandrashekhar Mohanty move into doubles semifinals


Patna, January 11, 2011: The second day of Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Memorial All-India Ranking Tennis Tournament saw men’s doubles quarterfinal matches played at the Patliputra Colony courts here.

Bihar and Assam pair of Devpriya Jaiswal and Chandrashekhar Mohanty entered the semifinals with 6-3, 6-1 straight set victory over Aman Kumar (Bihar) and Tushar Jaitley (Punjab) 6-3, 6-1.

The other combinations who moved into the semifinals were Manoj Sewa and Robin Das (both WB), Aditya Narayan and Saneesh Mani Mishra (both UP) and Krishna Karsolia and Kamlesh Shukla (both UP).

Results: Manoj Sewa & Robin Das beat Samresh Kumar Singh beat Devendra Yadav (UP) 6-0, 6-1; Aditya Narayan & Saneesh Mani Mishra (UP) beat Adamya Vikrant (Bihar) and Mahendra Singh Rathore (Rajasthan) 6-3, 6-4 and Krishna Kasolia & Kamlesh Shukla (UP) beat Ravikant Sahoo & Bheeshmak Srivastava (UP) 6-2, 6-0.

Earlier in the day, Bihar’s Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Department Minister Sukhda Pandey formally inaugurated the tournament. Bihar Lawn Tennis Association secretary Dr AB Prasad and chief coach Kunal Aikat were present on the occasion.
