Satish helps Bihar beat Meghalaya

Patna, January 12, 2011: Bihar boys finally found the momentum going in the BCCI Associated Members U-19 tournament in Chhattisgarh. In their second league match in Bhillai on Wednesday, Bihar trumped Meghalaya by six wickets to register their first win.

Bihar had lost their opening match against Chhattisgarh on Tuesday in Raipur.

According to information reached here, Bihar restricted Meghalaya to 222 all out off 49,4 overs and then scored the required runs for victory losing four wickets.

Bihar skipper and spinner Satish Rai played a pivotal role in his team’s thumping win. Satish took four wickets for 43 runs. Meghalaya had a sound start as openers Raj Bisla and Silvester added 73 runs for the first wicket. Raj Bisla hit 79 runs with 11fours and two sixes. Silvester made 26.

After the departure of the openers Meghalaya suffered middle order collapse as barring Rinky Singh (22, 2x4) other batsmen failed to do justice.

For Bihar Nishant Prakash and Shasheem Rathore bagged two wickets each for 22 and 32 runs respectively.

Nishant Kumar played a diligent knock of unbeaten 82 runs for Bihar. He struck 11 boundaries. Rajesh Singh too remained unbeaten on 59 (5x4, 1x6). Sang Payaliyar got four wickets for 42 runs. With this win, Bihar earned one bonus point.
