Twice world champion Rashmi Kumari of Bihar still has the hunger to accumulate a few more crowns to her kitty. In the recently concluded SAARC carrom championships in Colombo, she once again hogged the limelight. The slim and silky Patna girl missed narrowly the women’s singles title losing to her teammate I.Ilavazhaki in the final.
Before the final debacle, Rashmi helped India to bag the women’s team championships title and pairing with I.Ilavazhaki, she won the women’s double title defeating the Sri Lankan pair of Nayana Wickramasinghe and Amitha W Wickramasinghe.
In the SAARC championships, as it was expected India, once again reigned supreme collecting all the titles at stake save in men’s doubles where Sri Lanka outplayed India for the top honours.
Results:
Women’s team championship : 1st Place – India; 2nd Place – Sri Lanka
