Gayatri International, Ara Central School boys move into second round

Gayatri International and Ara Central School won their respective matches to move into the second round of the Super-30 Challenge Cup inter-school cricket tournament at the Patna College ground here.

In the first match, Gayatri International beat Vatsalya Academy by 35 runs while Ara Central School defeated Indra Singh High school, Maner by two wickets. Deepak Kumar of Gayatri International and Suraj Kumar of Ara got the man of the match awards respectively.

Brief Scores: Gayatri International School: 139 off 23.3 overs (Arup 38, gaurav Arya 17, Ankit 16, Farad 3 for 25, Muddasar Nazar 2 for 31). Vatsalya Academy : 104 all out of 20.3 overs (Shah Iqbal 26, Farid Nzar 10, Sumit 18, Deepak 4 for 24)

Indra Singh High School: 68 off 16.2 overs (Rehan Das Gupta 21, Saroj 4for 24, Shamresh 3 for 16, Sriram 2 for 12) Ara Centra School: 74 for 8 off 12 overs (Sriram 11, Ravi 2 for 12, Rahul 2 for 14).

Siwan win

Siwan edged past Asansol by a solitary second half goal in the Bernard Shield football tournament at the Jagjiwan Stadium, Danapur, on Friday.

The all important goal was scored by Fahyaz in the 63rd minute of the second half. Manmohan Singh of the winners’ team was adjudged player of the match.

Dony Polo cricket from November 5

Dony Polo Cup cricket tournament will be held in Patna from November 5, according to Dr SS Sahay, principal, Dony Polo Public School and president of the tournament committee.

He said eight teams of the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) senior division would take part in the tournament. Teams: SBI, PESU, NYK, Patna College, Kamala Nehru, Zaffar Imam and EC Railway, Danapur.
