Big win for Patna Central School

Patna Central School clinched a convincing 9-wicket victory over Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan School in the opening match of the Super-30 Challenge Cup inter-school cricket tournament at the Patna College ground on Thursday.

Batting first Radhakrishnan boys made 138 runs while Patna Central School achieved the victory target losing only wicket. Dharmesh, who took four wickets for 21 runs and scored 52 runs for the winners, was adjudged man of the match.

Earlier, former Bihar Chief Minister Dr Jagannath Mishra inaugurated the tournament. Bihar Players Association president Mritunjay Tiwari and Bihar Tenni-Koit Association secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu were present at the opening function. Organising president Kaushalendra Sharma proposed a vote of thanks.

Bettiah to host women’s sports festival

Bettiah will organize State Women’s Sports Festival from October 24. The three-day sports fest will witness participants vying for honours in athletics, football, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, jockey and badminton events.

Danapur in final


Danapur division crushed Munger 4-0 in an one-sided encounter to move into the final of the Bernard Shield football tournament at the Jagjiwan Stadium, Danapur, on Thursday.

A Ghosh put Danapur into the lead in the very fourth minute of the first half. Arjun Tudu increased the lead in the 6th and 49th minute strikes. Anwar Hussain swelled the margin in the 65th minute to make it 4-0.

Tapas Nandi of Danapur was declared best player of the match. Tarun Prakash of Munger got two yellow cards and the marching order.
