Kisku shines as Lilua lift Bernard Shield

Striker S Kisku struck three in row to help Lilua (West Bengal) clinch Bernard Shield football tournament title defeating local favourites Danapur 4-0 in a one-sided final at the Jagjivan Stadium, Khagaul on Tuesday.


Lilua were leading 3-0 at the end of the first half.


Kisku, who had an excellent run in this all-Railway teams tournament, scored in 26th, 36th and 43rd minutes. S N Haldar completed the tally in the 70th minute through a penalty kick. Haldar, who rose to the expectations of his team as a midfielder, declared man of the match.


East Central Railway General Manager Girish Bhatnagar, who was the chief guest at the closing function, distributed the prizes. He announced that the championship would be organised by East Central Railway from the next year instead of the Danaur Division and top teams of the country would be invited in the championship.


Dayanand School win
Dayanand High School, Patna, defeated Mount Carmel School, Ranchi, by 36 runs in the Super 30 Challenge Cup inter-school cricket tournament at the Patna College ground here.
Ravi of Dayanand High School, who scored 64 (3x6, 3x4) runs, was declared man of the match.


In the second match, East & West School edged past DR Academy by one wicket. Nagendra Babu of East & West, who made 31 runs and took two wickets, was declared man of the match.

East & West School: 126 for nine wickets in 24.5 overs (Nagendra Babu 31, Nilesh 30, Ajit 5/26).


Airtel Mastermind school chess
The fourth Airtel Mastermind inter-school chess championship will be held at the Government High School, Rajendra Nagar premises here from December 4, according to Pranav Prakash, general secretary, Association for People's Welfare and Development (APWAD)—the organizers of the 64 squares battle.


The championship will be organised for under-10, under-12, under-14 and under-16 boys and girls. Interested players may contact Rakesh Ranjan, tournament director for entry and other details.
