Patna, November 30, 2009: West Champaran, Rohtas and Samastipur earned full points winning their respective matches in the 61st Bihar State and inter-district football championships for the Moinul Haq Trophy in Purina on Monday.
According to information reached here, the day’s results saw Samastipur along with Bhojpur and Purnia moving into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
West Champaran trounced Gopalganj 6-0 with a hat-trick by Pitambar, who scored in the 10th, 16th and 26th minutes. Kumdan netted two goals while Hembram struck one. Pitambar of West Champaran was declared player of the match.
In another match Rohtas beat Araria by a solitary goal. Ranjit, who struck the lone goal was adjudged the man of the match.
In the third match of the day, Samastipur beat Buxar 2-0. Ram Narayan Ram and Romesh Kumar of Samastipur were the scorers for Samastipur in the 9th and 46th minutes of the match. Buxar team captain Ajay Kumar was adjudged the best player of the match.
