60 schools to take part in Sardal Patel athletics

Patna, November 29, 2009: The 8th Sardar Patel inter-school athletic championships to be held at the Moinul Haq Stadium here from December 11 to 13.

Upendra Kumar Singh, former MLC and president of Sardar Patel Sports and Cultural Foundation said as many as 110 gold medals would be at stake in the three-day meet. Sixty schools and 2000 athletes would take part in the championships that would organise cadet, mini-sub-junior, junior and senior boys and girls track and field events.

Organising secretary KC Mahajan said school teams from Chapra, Vaishali, Sosnepur, Bhojpur, Jehanabad, Barh and Patna would take part in the meet. To give an added charm to the championships, the organizing committee had decided to make the opening function a grand one, he added.

Arun Kumar Keshri, director, Commonwealth Games 2010, New Delhi, KM Ghosh, vice-president of the foundation, Raj Kumar Jaiswal and technical director of the meet Dhanesh Kumar Sinha also spoke on the occasion.
