Bihar U-19 boys too strong for Manipur

Patna, December 16, 2009: Bihar Juggernaut continued to roll on in the BCCI Associates and Affiliates under-19 tournament at Bhillai on Wednesday. Bihar steamrollered Manipur by 179 runs in their third match of the tournament.

According to information reached here, electing to bat first Bihar piled up impressive 277 for the loss of nine wickets off 50 overs. All the frontline Bihar batsmen came well with the bat. Mangal Mahrour scored a polished half century (50 runs off 83 balls). His knock contained six hits to the fence. Pawan Kumar (32, 55 balls, 3x4), Nishant (44, 66 balls, 3x4), Rajesh (45, 36 balls, 4x4, 2x6) and Ravi Shankar (30 not out, 14 balls, 4x4, 1x6) were the effective rungetters for Bihar. Jenius of manipur took 5 wickets for 36 runs while Jyotish captured 2 wickets for 39 runs.

In reply, Manipur could achieve to score 98 runs. Jhanudin reached the double figures making 12 runs. Satish Roy of Bihar was the wrecker-in-chief claiming 6 wickets for 34 runs in his spell of nine overs. Ashish got two wickets, Abhishek and Ravi Kumar bagged one wicket each.
