Samir Chakarvorty claimed the men’s singles title of the Aparesh Ghosh memorial table tennis tournament defeating Rahul Kumar 12-10, 11-8, 11-8, 6-11,11-4 in the final at the Bihar Young Men’s Institute here on Monday.
Rahul dished out very impressive show in the final but experienced Samir knew what to do at crucial juncture better than his opponent.
Gouresh Nishad won the cadet boys’ singles crown beating top seed Tushar Kanti 11-8, 11-9 and 11-5 in the final. Rahul Kumar got the sub-junior boys singles title outplaying Piyush D Gandhi 11-9, 11-4, 6-11 and 12-10 in a keenly contested match.
Chandra Bhushan Singh, managing director, Utsav Gas Service, Patna, who was the chief guest at closing function, gave away the prizes. Bihar Table Tennis Association secretary Mukesh Roy welcomed the guests while chief referee Sanjay Bhattacharya proposed a vote of thanks.
