UP XI claimed the first All-India Pratik Narain memorial under-17 cricket tournament title beating SKP XI, Patna, by 57 runs in the final at the DAV Public School, BSEB Colony ground, here on Thursday.
Batting first, UP XI made 189 runs in 34.2 overs. In reply, SKP XI could manage to score 132 runs in 32.4 overs. Dheeraj Patel of UP XI scored a magnificent half-century (54 runs) while Anil Pandey took four wickets for 14 runs. Sachin Sharma was named player of the tournament Manish Patel (best batsman), Anil Pandey (best bowler) and Vivek Singh (best fielder).
Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad inaugurated the tournament. Anil Sinha, ADGP (Vigilance), former Test cricketer Ramesh Saxena and Vivek Kumar Singh, secretary, Art, Culture and Youth Affairs jointly distributed the prizes. Prem Ranjan Patel, MLA, Principal of the DAV Public School Ramanuj Prasad, Prof Daisy Narain, LP Verma, Sunil Singh, SN Lall. Nikhilesh Ranjan, Nipun Narain, Samik Narain, Pramod Kumar and Ujjawal Das were present at the prize-distribution function. Organising secretary, Aditya Verma proposed a vote of thanks. On behalf of the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB), Anil Sinha felicitated Ramesh Saxena at the prize-distribution function.
