Patna, February 5
Sarfaraz Alam of Muzaffarpur won the men’s singles title of the Bihar State Major badminton championships defeating Mahfooz Ahamd of Gopalganj 21-16, 21-16 in Gaya on Thursday.
Alka Kumari of Bhagalpur clinched the women’s singles crown beating her team mate Amrita Thakur 21-12, 21-17 in the final.
Pramendra Kumar and Mahfooz Ahmad won the men’s doubles title beating Bhagalpur-Muzaffarpur pair of Ritesh Kumar and Sarfaraz Alam in tough three sets 21-17, 21-28, 21-21.
Neeraj Kumar of Patna bagged the veterans’ singles title beating Mukesh Kumar Singh of Bhagalpur 21-11, 21-10.
Road Construction Minister Dr Prem Kumar gave away the prizes.
