Dainik Jagran post five-wicket win

Patna, February 6
An all-round performance by Alok Chaturvedi (two wickets and 27 runs) helped Dainik Jagran beat Sanmarg by five wickets in their last pool C match of the 4th Airtel Media Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Thursday.

With is win Dainik Jagran cemented their place in the quarter-finals while the losers Sanmarg also earned a berth in the last eight stage with four points from three matches.

The last league match of the same pool between News Agencies XI and Times of India could not be played as the former did not turn up. Times of India earned full points after getting a walk-over.

Earlier, players of both the teams and members of the organizing committee mourned the sudden demise of Tripureshwar Pandey, father of Sports Journalists Association of Bihar (SJAB) president Deepak Pandey, observing a two-minute silence for departing soul.

Batting first, Sanmarg made 122 runs for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs while Dainik Jagran achieved the target losing five wickets.
