Patna, February 4
Defending champions Rashtriya Sahara kept their slate clean winning all the matches of their pool A in the 4th Airtel Media Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament at the Moinul haq Stadium here on Wednesday. In the last league match Rashtirya Sahara prevailed over Doordarshan Kendra, Patna (DDK, Patna) by an huge margin of 108 runs.
In the second match of the day, All India Radio, Patna beat Radio Mirchi bi six wickets. With this win AIR, Patna entered the quarter-finals. Rashtriya Sahara had already made the quarter-finals grade.
Batting first, Rashtriya Sahara piled up 195 runs for the loss of two wickets off 20 overs. Abhay Pathak dished out an impressive performance scoring 90 runs. Opner Abhay along with other opening batsman Nitosh Jha (43) gathered 105 runs for the first wicket.
In reply, DDK could muster 87 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs. Damodar scored 35 runs. Rajiv Ranjan claimed three wickets for 20 runs. Abhay Pathak was adjudged man of the match. SB Prasad, CMD Star India Construction, gave away the man of the match trophy to Abhay.
In the second match, Radio Mirchi managed 52 runs off 14.5 overs. Alakh Niranjan got a hat-trick and finished the day with five wickets for 10 runs.
In reply, AIR reached the target losing four wickets. After brilliant bowling performance, Alakh Niranjan excelled in batting too scoring 22 runs. Alakh was later adjudged man of the match.
